Sun Protection Factor - SPF
Your ESCA makeup (i.e. the mineral makeup) has special minerals that work
as the sunscreen to protect your skin from the harm of untraviolet rays of the sun shine.
What Is Sun Proection Factor (SPF)?
Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
is a number on a scale for rating sunscreens.
SPF numbers on your ESCA makeup (or a dedicated sunscreen product) can range from as
low as 2 to as high as 60. These numbers refer to the product's ability to screen or
block out the sun's burning rays.
The SPF rating is
calculated by comparing the amount of time needed to produce a sunburn on a protected skin
versus the time on an unprotected one.
For example, your skin may turns red after 10 minutes in the sun without any sunscreen.
This 10 minutes will be the "initial burning rate".
When waring a sunscreen with an SPF
of 2, your skin will turn red in 10x2 = 20 minutes.
If the SPF is 15, the time
will then be 10x15 = 150 minutes.
